It’s not always connections, professional development and community give-back. At EWI we are committed to being a strong 501(c)3 organization.  Twice a year the membership has a members-only meeting so we can conduct the business we need to that sets us up for success.

Last night we held the 2nd Business Meeting this year at Blue Care Network, a member firm. Not only did we complete a lot of business, our members were able to share their input, ask questions and help the chapter to look forward to next year with a new Board of Directors being inducted this October.

A dinner from the BCN caterers kicked off the meeting and it was delicious! Thank you BCN!

Here’s a glance at what we covered:

  • Presidents Report:
    • LCAM 2017 (Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting) Updates and News

To share just three of the many, they included Mr. Leland Bassett of Bassett & Bassett, Inc. spoke on Communication Survival Skills  (see blog post here); and Ruth Mannshreck, Business Strategist and owner of Shoreline Strategies spoke to leading from where you’re planted (see blog post here), (Ruth also spoke to the entire EWI national membership on the same topic); Kay Douglas, Douglas Marketing Group gave 6 Tips to Building and International Brank and Levering It for Growth and Development (see blog post here); Sandy Gulick Vice President with AON Risk Solutions spoke on Lessons in Leadership and what it took to get to the level of leadership she is in today (see blog post here).
      • Giving back to the community was increased with one additional scholarship given this year at our Scholarship Awards dinner (see blog post here), a new Reading Rally at a local, southwest Detroit elementary school, support our member firms and representatives community programs and more.
